iACT 2016: Issues in Taekwondo History & Future Directions

In partnership with the World Taekwondo Federation, International Academic Conference for Taekwondo (iACT) is hosting its second conference on Taekwondo and martial arts on Saturday April 2, 2016 in San Francisco. The title is: WTF-iACT 2016: Issues in Taekwondo History & Future Directions.

Through its Education Department and its Scientific Research Committee, the WTF is now a major corporate sponsor of iACT 2016, as is American Taekwondo United (ATU).

The iACT, its sponsors and its donors celebrate both the contribution of our Taekwondo community to excellence in education and its significant impact on children and families throughout North America. World-renowned academic researchers from the United States, Germany and Republic of Korea will present on their areas of expertise and engage in a round table discussion of current hot topics in Taekwondo history. They are:

The iACT is a 501(c)3 (non-profit) organization. Our iACT mission statement includes promoting and conducting various activities related to Taekwondo research, academics, and learning. We do so by reach out to the local Taekwondo communities around the world to support our endeavors at the grass-roots level. A fundamental purpose of the iACT is to combine the breadth of what Taekwondo and martial arts are today with the historical development of Taekwondo and martial arts over time into a unique conference format. Other purposes include promoting the medical, scientific, and philosophic understandings of the martial art and sport of Taekwondo, and facilitating and nurturing the academic and professional development of the field of Taekwondo studies by organizing research conferences. Our iACT 2016 event will serve and enrich the local, state, national and international Taekwondo and martial art communities by including everyone in the academic discourse.
