American Taekwondo United (ATU) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2006 with the goal of contributing to the growth and development of Taekwondo in the United States. As part of the agenda of ATU, it hosts a national tournament annually, provides ongoing education for Taekwondo schools, and contributes to communities around the country through charitable events.
Since 2008, the ATU National Championships feature competition in Forms, Sparring, and Demo Team. This tournament has been held in various cities such as Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta, and it has provided many of its athletes the opportunity to compete in higher level international competitions. To date, the ATU National Team has been sent to compete in Korea, Mexico, and Trinidad Tobago.
Biannually, ATU hosts the ATU National Convention, which brings together Taekwondo leaders to provide educational resources, instructor training, and industry updates to further the development of Taekwondo in America. Finally, ATU has organized charity fundraisers for Children’s Hospitals nationwide through its “Kicking For Miracles” event. The efforts of ATU has made a tremendous impact on society and will continue to work to make a positive difference in communities all over the country.
